(1720 – April 20th 1769), is an Odawa War Chief, known for his role in the war named for him, from 1763 to 1766, leading Indigenous North-Americans, in a struggle, against British military occupation of the Great Lakes region. It followed the British victory, in the French and Indian War.., the North American front of the Seven Years’ War. The effects of Pontiac’s War were long-lasting, because the “Proclamation“ officially recognized, that Indigenous People ..had “certain rights to the lands they occupied.” ----------------
