Niger: Sky turns blood red as ’calima’ sandstorm descends on Niamey

The sky of Niger’s capital Niamey was a crimson shade on Monday as the result of ’calima’, a weather phenomenon characterized by the presence of dust, wind and sand from the Sahara desert. Sandstorm approached the capital city as the sky turned the red colour of blood.
