Falle Nioke & Ghost Culture reunite for a brand new EP entitled Badiare, set for release on 5th November via PRAH Recordings:
Today, they share “Leywole“, the EP’s lead single which was featured as Mary Anne Hobbs’ Near Future track on BBC 6 Music.
“Leywole“ literally means “whatever“ in Coniagui, one of the many languages spoken by Falle Nioke. “I was inspired just by watching men and women in the street, in particular an interaction between a strong woman rejecting the approach from a bold man,“ he explains. “’How can this man have the audacity to talk to me?!“ she says and asks him questions like ’and you are the son of who?!’“
Elsewhere on the four-track EP there are tracks sung in Malenki, Fulani and a mixture of English and Susso. After his Marasi EP with sir Was earlier this year, Falle’s “meditative yet commanding croon“ (The Guardian) is now once again backed by the suave electronic production of Ghost Culture. The two Margate-based musicians first worked together on last year’s Youkounkoun EP, a release which spawned three A Listed singles at BBC Radio 6 Music.
