Spectacular Iridescent Clouds (Pileus) Occurred over Haikou

On the afternoon of August 21, a #spectacle of #colorful #clouds appeared in #Haikou, #Hainan, with #dazzling #splendor. It is understood that the scientific name of “Colorful Clouds“ is “Iridescent Clouds“ (#Pileus), which are common in #southern China’s #summer. The “round hat“ of this kind of cloud top is similar to Fu, (“Fu“ is a kind of headscarf worn by ancient Chinese men), so it covers the top of the cloud like a hat, and is vividly called the “Fu-shaped Cloud“. When the sunlight is at the right angle, the light is diffracted between the droplets and ice crystals in the cloud, creating a brilliant #rainbow of colors.
