Slâfest du friedel ziere [German minne song][+English translation]
The poem Slâfest du, friedel ziere is probably the first song of the kind “Tagelied“ on German-speaking soil and has the author Dietmar von Aist. The date of origin of the Middle High German song is controversial, but it´s probably from around 1170/80. The song is about the separation of two lovers at daybreak.
The first line is Middle High German, the second Modern High German.
