Original French Berthier Modele 1916 Carbine. Chambered in 8mm Lebel. Originally made in 1892 as a three-shot carbine. Some time during or after WWI, it was updated to the five-shot pattern. It was then once again overhauled and updated for the new Balle N cartridge, and was also given a new finish with black enamel paint over gray-green parkerization. From there, it somehow made it to a church in Italy where it would be brought back as a war trophy by a US soldier.
