Oil tanks burn in Russia after suspected strike by Ukrainian drones
An oil facility near the Russian city of Omsk burst into flames, sparking speculation it was caused by a Ukrainian drone strike. Three tanks filled with 600 litres of oil caught fire April 25 at the site which is located more than 1,800 miles from the Ukraine border. Governor Vitaly Khotsenko said firefighters were on scene but refused to say what had caused the blaze, sparking speculation that it was due to a drone attack. Ukraine is known to possess at least one kind of drone with the range to strike the facility, and is in the midst of a campaign to destroy as much of Russia’s valuable oil infrastructure as possible. The aim is to rob Putin of funds to fight his war in Ukraine, and to make life hard for ordinary Russians to turn them against their leaders. So far the campaign has proved a success, with most refineries in the western portion of the country having sustained some kind of damage. #russia #ukraine #war
