Jim Hall and ilk

Three of my equally favorite Improvisors-that predominately employ a “pick.“ Jim Hall once worked with a Clarinet player that asked him not to “pick every note“ - purporting that they might blend better. HR set the bar with his creative and unique linegames. Johnny Smith (Walk Don’t Run) employed close voicings and beautiful linegames.
