Callous Void (Australia) — Enthralled by Corruption — 2022 full length

The second album from this Australian act. It casts an atmospheric mist through neverending tremolo couples with background synths and very languid and mellow vocals, but those also bring a lot of distortion and noise to the foreground. This is rather different from the debut which did not have any of this atmosphere, actually a mother straightforward black metal record. This is the harsh n’ drony type of black metal that manages to keep this frail equilibrium of forlornness and anger. To a great extent this project did grow into something quite different, not a one-directional hateful spear but something with good songwriting, multilayered and with already great quality on the vocals and also the synth, guitar and bass interconnection is quite fabulous, especially on melodies like the last one.
