Charley Bowers’ «He Done His Best» (1926)

Charley proposes to a childhood sweetheart but must get her father’s approval. He ends up working at his restaurant but causes all the other employees to strike because he is not a union member. After wrecking the place trying to wait on all the customers himself, he rebuilds it with a machine that serves food and sets tables and other things, replacing the entire staff, much to the liking of the father. Terrific use of stop motion animation in the Charley Bowers style.
