SM64 Monthly Report: June 2023

Another month, another Monthly Report. Info on this June’s stories: 1. Saturn Map-porting Tutorial The Saturn: Custom Maps Edition Github repository, a project by GMM64, now has a wiki attached to it, which contains a helpful tutorial teaching machinimists how to port maps to Saturn themselves. Importing steps and environment editing, which includes directions on adding objects and configuring a level’s object bank, are covered in the text-based guide. More additions are planned for the guide in the future. Porting Maps Yourself guide: Decomp level editing tutorials: Tutorial on porting maps from Sketchup to SM64 decomp: Sources: Saturn: Custom Maps Edition, GMM64, Rovert (YouTube), Bitlytic (YouTube) 2. iOS Eye Texture Tutorial RoboBloopers64YT showed a more advanced and easier way of getting using custom eye textures in iOS machinima in a tutorial uploaded on the 14th. The method outlined in this guide uses an emulator graphics plugin, a setup reminiscent of eye texture loading in Project64. A previous tutorial, which showed a process of using eye textures that involved individual ROMs, is now marked as an outdated version. Watch the new tutorial here: Sources: RoboBloopers64YT 3. Niall Drama Conflict from May continued into June involving JFM321, also known as Niall. Offensive language and undesirable behavior were the subjects of most of what JFM321 was accused of through the month, with attempted IP-grabbing being reported as well. Through much of the drama’s course, JFM321 made several statements about moving on from problematic behavior. Most of this June’s portion of the drama did not materialize in public spaces, with the exception of JFM321’s SM64 Machinima Wiki page. The perpetrator used the channel to upload two supposed software crack tutorials, which both reached only a small audience.
