Wojeck was a CBC-produced dramatic TV series that ran for two seasons from 1966 to 1968.
John Vernon played Dr. Steve Wojeck, a Toronto coroner whose cases lead him to crusade against the conditions that lead to the incident. Wojeck was based on Dr. Morton Shulman, Toronto’s chief coroner at the time, who was known for being outspoken. During the show’s first season, Shulman allowed writers access to his case files from which many storylines were drawn.
The show was not afraid to take an honest look at various topics, some of which would have been controversial for 1960s television.
The pilot episode, “Tell Them The Streets Are Dancing”, was broadcast on NBC’s anthology series “Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre” on March 16, 1966.
