Visit Visit our website This rare film promotes the TG Racing team and its stable of Trans Am race cars, which raced in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) series. It likely dates to 1970. TG was founded in 1968 by champion-winning owner Terry Godsall (thus the TG) and veteran racecar driver Jerry Titus. Titus, who became widely known as “Mr. Trans Am“, won a class victory and placed third overall at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1969, but the following year he died after a bad accident at Milwaukee. GM’s Pontiac division originally provided the TG Team with five Firebirds for competition, including Pontiac’s original silver Trans Am. The cars shown here are #73 driven by John Cordt and #79 driven by David Hobbs. The team’s success was limited however as a result of the car’s unreliable engine.
