Wensleydale Cheese Issue Title - “Up The Coupons“ (1941)

Wensleydale cheese. North Yorkshire. Various scenic shots of countryside around Wensleydale. Various shots of the river Ure and its waterfalls. M/S herd of pedigree cattle, a farmer rounds them up. The camera pans across men milking the cows by hand. M/S as milk churns are unloaded from a truck. The milk is poured into a big vat. Various shots as girls stir the milk to slow the curdling, good C/U as a girl smiles at the camera. M/S as they check the temperature in the vat and carry on stirring. M/S as they put the solid curd into a machine which breaks it down into small pieces. M/S as the bits of curd are packed into a mould and wrapped in cheesecloth. M/S as the girls carry it out to the ripening room. M/S of a round block of cheese which has ripened. A tester is put in to see if it is ready. M/S as a woman eats a piece.
