In the mile event we see athletes Peter Close of St John’s followed by Houston University’s Barrie Almond. Ireland’s Ron Delaney and Hungary’s Istvan Rossavolgy follow. Almond goes into the lead, then all three are suddenly overtaken by Rossavolgy at sprinter speed. Delaney follows him and tries to beat him.
