Terrier Racing (1954)

Terrier racing at Cobtree Manor, near Maidstone, Kent. C/U man tying feathers on mechanical device which dogs run after (like hare at dog track). Man finishes tying feathers and walks out of picture. C/U sign reading “Terriers racing“. Camera pans from sign to people going into entrance. M/S people paying then entering enclosure. M/S two kennel maids preparing greyhound and greyhound mongrel for race. M/S crowd. M/S kennel maids entering arena with greyhounds and parading them round track. M/S children watching. L/S of track, in foreground man can be seen starting mechanical device. Traps open and greyhounds chase after hare. Camera following greyhounds as they chase after hare, kennel maids dash onto track to stop greyhounds. Greyhounds escape them and catch up with the feathers. M/S man pulling feathers away from excitable greyhounds. C/U crowd watching. M/S kennel maids parading terrier mongrels around track. M/S two terriers being put into traps. M/S crowd.
