Pothole Tragedy (1959)

Commentator explains they are on a last bid to save Neil Moss, a 20-year-old trapped in Peak Cavern (pothole). General view of hillside and cave entrance; rescuers go inside. C/U still of Neil Moss who died in the cave. Inside the cave we see rescuers moving along and carrying small equipment. Outside, rescuers carry oxygen cylinders towards the cave. In the village we see rescue trucks and crews. Signs on side of vehicles read ’Field Cable Party’, ’Civil Defence Corps’ and ’Mines Rescue’. Several shots of one of the rescuers who has just come out of the cave, walking past camera covered in mud and slime. Flight Lieutenant John Carter, the RAF doctor who spent 14 hours in the cave before Neil died is seen walking towards the camera and meeting the press.
