Second Front (1942)

Titles read: “SECOND FRONT“. London. At Empress Hall we see Sir Stafford Cripps making a speech about the Second Front. He tells of the Anglo-Russian alliance and says we must gain revenge for the attack by Hitler on the Russian people. “When we strike, let us strike hard and with the determination to march through to Berlin before we call a final halt“. M/S Russian Ambassador Mr Ivan Maisky is on the dais with Cripps. Birmingham, West Midlands. Outside the Town Hall in Birmingham, a large crowd is gathered to listen to a speech by Lord Beaverbrook. He talks of believing in the fighting power and courage of the Russian Army. He says “We believe in Stalin’s leadership and this is the day to proclaim our faith!“ (huge cheers from the crowd). Cutaways to servicemen and women in the crowd. He goes on to say that it is nonsense to say that the Germans are good and that only Hitler and his accomplices are bad. He says “Hitler was made by the Germans, he was raised to power by the Germans“ and
