Holidays At Home Dublin Issue (1942)

Titles read: “HOLIDAYS AT HOME“ (Dublin issue). Leigh, Lancashire. Several shots of workers of the industrial town of Leigh preparing for a day trip to Worsley, seven miles away. Crates of pies are loaded onto a barge, then the workers and their families climb aboard and they move off down the canal towards Worsley. A soldier on the barge plays his accordion. The group stops first at a funfair; children on swing boats; dogs ride a tiny pony (Shetland?) around a small circus ring; circus folk carry monkeys and lead dogs across the fairground; a young girl is handed a black rabbit to hold. Children have fun riding in a trap pulled by a pony, making sandcastles, watching a ventriloquist and a Punch and Judy show and eating ice cream. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
