A devastating fuel tanker explosion has claimed the lives of at least 94 people in northern Nigeria. The incident occurred late Tuesday night in the town of Majia, Jigawa State, after the tanker overturned and began leaking fuel. Despite police warnings, a crowd gathered around the site to collect the petrol, which led to a massive fire that engulfed the area. According to police spokesman Lawal Shiisu Adam, officers attempted to keep people away from the tanker, but the crowd was too large to control. When the fire erupted, 94 people were burnt to death, and 50 others were severely injured and rushed to a hospital in nearby Ringim town. Many of the victims were burnt beyond recognition, and a mass burial is planned for later today. The fuel tanker was traveling from Kano to Nguru when the driver lost control. The driver, who survived the crash, has been taken into custody for questioning. Videos of the tragic incident have surfaced on social media, showing the aftermath of the explosion. Emerge
