Downcast Collision - Overthrown [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

The story of Overthrown: Overthrown is the opening track off of Downcast Collision’s album “Rise Up” (2017). The song title refers to being removed from power, not as a monarch or ruler of a country of some sorts, but as a ruler of one’s own emotions. The song deals with trying to gain control over those emotions, so that they are not in control of you. A power struggle of words and will. A fortress built to keep those feelings out, yet being trapped inside it as a result. Someone is trying to (aggressively) break through the wall that has been built. Yet being behind walls, the individual in the song, can’t make out, whether the person trying to overthrow the walls is friend or foe and thus tries to keep him out. Feeling numb and dulled, the person inside those walls, also wants to break out on one hand, but on the other hand, fears not being able to handle it. “Facing the wall” is about admitting the problem, but not being able to see beyond it.
