Create “OUTSIDE“ Tension using Triads | Guitar Lesson

Here’s a little video I put together sharing a creative way to develop ’outside’ sounding phrases using triads. The video centres around discussing an example phrase which will hopefully be a jumping off point for you to start creating more tension based ideas using a similar process. I hope you enjoy this #guitar and #music theory lesson. Hopefully this will add some #jazz ideas for your solos as well as give you the ability to have more tension and resolution within your guitar playing. I’ve outlined the scale choices as well as highlighted any triadic ideas based on the concept shown in the video lesson. Performance scale options used: C Dorian, C Aeolian, C Melodic Minor, C Coltrane Pentatonic, C Whole-Half Diminished, C Minor Pentatonic/Blues scale.
