Foxconn to Shut Some China Lines: No Orders, No Hiring, Local Business Doomed

After Taiwan’s richest man, Terry Gou, announced his candidacy in Taiwan’s presidential election, there has been continuous reports that his Foxconn Group has been facing suppression in Mainland China. There have even been internal ground level employees leaking information online about significant reductions in overtime hours on local production lines, leading to reduced salaries for many. This has led to quite a lot of resignations. The company is also at the centre of attacks from numerous “little pink“ or jingoistic netizens. Industry insiders believe that for some cities, Foxconn represents a significant portion of foreign trade.
