Bach - Cantata Christen, ätzet diesen Tag BWV 63 - Creed | Netherlands Bach Society

Bach’s large-scale cantata ’Christen, ätzet diesen Tag’, here performed by the Netherlands Bach Society conducted by Marcus Creed, includes four trumpets, three oboes and timpani. It was performed on Christmas Day 1723, in Leipzig, where Bach had been working for less than six months. So it was his first Christmas there. The cantata he performed was not new, but one he had brought with him from Weimar, where Bach had performed it around 1714/1715 for Advent. Recorded for the project All of Bach on December 13th 2018 at the Grote Kerk, Naarden.
