IRAQ_ INTERNATIONAL SANCTIONS AFFECTING LIBRARIES BOOK SHOPS

The creation of the National Library of Iran dates from the early 1860s. In 1852, the modern Darol Fonoun School was established in Tehran. 12 years later, a small library was annexed to the School. Destiny had it that this tiny library of the first European-style school in Iran would form the nucleus of the Iranian National Library, which, 73 years later, on August 25th, 1941, was officially inaugurated and publicly deemed to symbolize the advent of the modern age in Iran.
