BMW Motorrad has used the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este to reveal the new R20 concept. This is a minimalist motorcycle that displays the heart of a Big Boxer.
As the name suggests, this concept hints at a motorbike that could be placed on top of the R18. That’s not the only important thing about this concept as it features a new 2-liter Big Boxer engine.
The R20 first appeared as a 192cc single-cylinder motorcycle in 1931, part of a German government scheme under which motorcycles under 200cc were not subject to tax or licensing requirements. How times have changed. BMW’s recently launched R20 concept packs a 1,999cc boxer-twin engine, based on the R18 engine. BMW didn’t release numbers, but expects an increase from the R18’s 91 horsepower and 116 lb-ft of torque.#bmwmotorrad #bmr20
