Genie Wiley: the feral child

Since she was born, Genie Wiley never knew more than silence from her parents. But at the age of two, her father went a step further and hid her away from the world. She grew up isolated in a room with no communication or interaction. She’d spend days tied to a toilet or a crib, without speaking or being spoken to. When she was found at the age of 13, she had the appearance of a 7-year-old and wasn’t able to speak or walk properly. Although therapists worked hard to help her recover from years of abuse and being locked in a room, Genie was never able to fully recover.
