Subway passenger faints and causes stampede, injuries in Shenzhen

A passenger fainted on Monday morning on a subway platform in Shenzhen city, Guangdong Province, causing bystanders to panic – and nine were subsequently injured in a stampede. The wounded were quickly sent to hospital and activity at the station has returned to normal. Such a case is not unusual: Last August, a foreigner fainted on the subway and the passengers rushed out of the train in just 10 seconds, leaving an empty train car behind. These over-reactions have aroused concern over public safety. Shen
