Aurora Australis with Bioluminescence - Betsey Island Tasmania - 4K UHD
Footage © Ian Stewart.
One hour of Timelapse sequence of the Aurora Australis taken on the night of October 7th/8th. The island in silhouette is Betsey Island, Tasmania. The Aurora was caused by Solar Winds flowing from a large Coronal hole in the sun. This night remains the most perfect night I have seen for an Aurora in Tasmania after many years. The Aurora was visible from Dusk until Dawn, although all my camera batteries failed before Dawn. There was no moon, and amazingly, no clouds the entire night. Even flashes of bio-luminescence can be seen in the waves. A simply amazing night!
