Jessica Pegula romped to the first WTA 1000 title of her career as the No.3 seed from the United States took down No.4 seed Maria Sakkari in the Guadalajara Open Akron final! It’s the second title of her career on the Hologic WTA Tour, as Pegula increased her total of WTA 1000 match-wins over the last two seasons to 39 – more than any other player on tour. On her way to the final, she also defeated four Grand Slam champions in a row in Elena Rybakina (against whom she saved three match points), Bianca Andreescu, Sloane Stephens, and Victoria Azarenka.
