Buddhist Hell (Naraka) at Wat Muang, Thailand - Walking Tour 4K
I take you on a walk through Naraka (Buddhist Hell) at Wat Muang in Ang Thong, Thailand (วัดม่วง อ่างทอง). The temples ’hell garden’ is a gruesome depiction of what awaits you, should you break the Buddhist precepts (Sīla) in a sufficiently serious manner. The Christian equivalent would be breaking the 10 commandments.
Buddhism has 16 hell realms. Your journey begins with Lord Yama (the God of Death) assessing your life and giving you the appropriate punishment. Entering Naraka means being reborn in a place of continuous pain and torture!
Interestingly, some Thai parents bring their children here too to teach them moral values and the consequences of not living by those values; there didn’t seem to be any age restriction to enter the hell garden.
