Norbert Rodenkirchen improvises a stantipes based on the Trouvere chanson “Quant li rosignol joli“. According to Grocheo´s treatise “De Musica“ from Paris in the late 13th ct. a stantipes was not a dance but a more contemplative piece of music in a complex form. It had to be ended with an ornamented melismatic “pneuma“ in one of the eight modes.
