Do you remember the last great four-funnel liner that carried the British flag for almost 36-years? The beautiful ship Aquitania, built in 1911 and launched in 1913 became an famous liner on the Trans-Atlantic crossing in the 1920’s.
She served in Two World Wars, ran aground on April 15 1935. But she never gave the hope up, in 1949 she showed her age. Aquitania couldn’t handle the structure anymore.
Aquitania left Southampton in 1950, in quiet and sadness, for ever.
