Cassini Final “E22“ Enceladus Flyby

This animation shows NASA’s Cassini spacecraft during its Dec. 19, 2015 flyby of Enceladus. Cassini’s composite infrared spectrometer instrument will observe the moon’s south polar terrain. The animation begins 1 hour before closest approach to Enceladus and ends 2 hours afterward. Closest approach distance will be 3,106 miles (4,999 kilometers).
