Four volunteer participants enter the ground-based, simulated Mars habitat at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, on June 25, 2023, to begin a 378-day mission. The mission is the first of three planned one-year Mars surface simulations, called CHAPEA (Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog).
