Märklin HO vintage : the 1962 Rheingold train set at Coronheim Les Vignes

This beautiful train set (with its additional car, equiped with lights and red tail lights) is modelled after the Rheingold luxury train in its 1962 blue and cream livery. it is hauled by a modern Br E 10-12 DB locomotive. The train runs on my ultra-compact vintage Märklin layout , which I have undertaken to build in order to keep busy during this new confinement ( lockdown) period. The layout measures only 160x100 cm and has no fancy electronics or digital features. I have put to good use a stock of old M track and period accessories by Märklin and Faller and am trying to give a flavour of the layouts which were common in the 1950’ s and 1960’s.
