FWDC Students Demonstrating Bartenieff Movement Fundamentals

The Bartenieff Movement Fundamentals are based on the work of physical therapist Irmgard Bartenieff who began her work in the 1950’s first on patients with polio and then with children with movement delays. The fundamentals are based on the patterns that children go through from birth to walking. They include core-distal, head-tail, upper-lower body halves, right-left body halves, cross-lateral and vestibular. These patterns result in movement that is efficient and more intelligent.
