山鬼- Mountain Spirit

[English translation] It seems as though there is someone in the winding valley of that mountain, draped in fig ivy, with a sash of lichen, eyes shining with emotion and smiling delightfully; the gentleman admires her quiet grace. She rides a crimson leopard, is followed by a cat of patterned coat, and a magnolia wood carriage with banners of osmanthus. Draped in orchid-of-the-mountain and water crowfoots, she picks fragrant flowers as a gift for her admirer. Deep within the bamboo forest, the sky can never be seen; my journey was perilous, and I arrived alone and late. Alone, I stand upon the mountain-top, below me, the clouds are tempestuous and threaten rain. In the distance there is only darkness; it is day but black as night.
