M240B Gunner Suppresses Enemy During Ambush

A M240B gunner quickly locates the Taliban firing position and lays down a few bursts to suppress the enemy. The fighters broke contact and abandon their ambush position immediately after. Generally a 240 gunner will only have a “teaser belt“ of about 50 rounds loaded during a patrol and his #2 is responsible for supplying him with ammunition as necessary. This took place in 2012 in Zhari District, Kandahar Province, during a patrol with ANA and 2/508 PIR.
