For Pete’s sake drain dem carbs people! It’s so easy to do.
All fuel in BC now contains ethanol. This means that owners of carbureted motorcycles have to remove all unused fuel from the tank and especially from the carburetor(s) to avoid clogging of the narrow jets inside.
When you’re parking your bike for more than a week make sure to drain all the gas from the tank and when the tank is empty don’t forget that there’s still some gas in W650’s carburetors. (In fact, there’s enough fuel there to start the bike with choke and then run it until it’s warm.)
It’s super easy to drain the carbs. All you need is:
3mm hex socket
Plastic hose
Gasoline container
Note: If your tank is made of metal, make sure that you drop one full cup of motor oil in the empty tank and swirl it around to cover the inside of the tank with the film of oil to prevent rusting. You don’t need to do this if your tank is
