Vladimir Trakhtenberg, is a former prisoner and survivor of the Minsk ghetto. He was taken there when he was less than three years old. Vladimir spent 27 months there and though it was dozens of years ago, he remembers those horrors well. He talks about his memories of those terrible days in our video. On 31 July 1941, preparations aimed at the ’Final Solution of the Jewish Question’ were authorised to be carried out by the Nazi leader Hermann Goering. In the autumn, a plan for the mass extermination of Jews was executed. 120,000 people passed through the Minsk ghetto, and only 10,000 survived.
