Despite the long list of localities from around the world that actually produce this aluminum silicate mineral, finer qualities of Scapolite gems are still quite rare and extremely under appreciated. With a wide variety of colors ranging from purples, blues, pinks, oranges, colorless, gray’s and yellow’s,(with yellow being the most abundant), it’s amazing to me how so few actually use it. Scapolite, with a hardness of (just like opal) is perfectly suited for pendants, but does require some care if using it in a ring. Often found in large clean sizes with a RI of it can make an absolutely spectacular gem in a piece of jewelry.
Todays yellow scapolite comes from a somewhat obscure local in the Tamil Nadu region of southern India 🇮🇳 and weighs CT’s. Please drop me a private message if you have any questions and have a great day.
