Drum routine from The Roy Castle Show in 1961

Drum routine with Roy Castle, Phil Seamen, Jack Parnell, Kenny Clare and Art Morgan from The Roy Castle Show. Dad was in his element playing music and loved showcasing his favourite musicians. These were the top jazz drummers in the UK at the time and dad was in awe of them all. It was a live TV show and, not long before transmission, Phil Seamen, who was the one everyone revered, was nowhere to be seen. Eventually, he arrived at the studio, worse for wear and holding a plastic drum kit, saying “sorry I’m late, I couldn’t find my drum kit, so I went to Hamley’s and bought another one“. Jack Parnell managed to locate another kit quickly so the show could go on!
