Retired Chinese couple dedicates nearly two decades turning desert into oasis

Seventy-year-old Tububatu and his wife live in a village on the edge of the Badain Jaran desert, China’s third-largest desert. The couple planted 266 hectares (657 acres) of desert with the highly drought-resistant sacsaoul trees (haloxylon plants) since his retirement in 2002. Support us:
