let’s be real, we’ve all tried the hard mix blending mode by accident at one point and thought “why would anyone ever need this“... BUT NOW let’s explore ACTUAL use cases for the ugly duckling blending mode called Hard Mix! We’ll start by going over some color theory and talking about how colors are made up of Red, Green, and Blue values from 0-255. Then once we’re all on the same page we’ll talk about how the Hard Mix mode actually works to understand why it gives us such ugly results. Once we UNDERSTAND the blending mode we can actually find some really powerful uses for it. The first of the use cases I’ll go over is making really cool dissolve transitions using Turbulent Noise. They’re really versatile because there are so many options you can change to fine-tune and customize every aspect of the dissolve!
