화생 | 化生 | metaplasia According to science, we do not remember the future. This is because, ontologically, the future does not exist in advance. The future is not yet a reality; the present was not a reality in the past. Opinions differ whether the time is physically passing, but everyone seems to agree with the irreversibility. This is the directionality of time, the ’arrow of time’. On the other hand, many religions, including Buddhism, Hinduism have the concept of rebirth(samsara) and/or reincarnation. It is sometimes likened to a spinning merry-go-round or circle. So, are we just recreating a past in the future? Are our life and time so boring? We try to solve the paradox through art for scientific and religious depictions that seem to contradict each other.
