NAMILIA AW23 SHOW CRUISING UTOPIA : The Internet has revolutionized queer life. Our increasingly digital world has connected us to our histories, contemporary leaders, future utopias, organizing communities, next hookup, and of course, to each other. Namilia’s F/W 2023 collection is a vision of the artistic, social, and political liberations that this digital queer renaissance can bring. Named after José Esteban Muñoz’s foundational text, Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Queer Futurity, this collection similarly looks to what a queer utopia could be, one that permits queerness to flourish outside of expectations of positivity, productivity, or professionalism. We want queer people to embody every aspect of themselves, a radical reclamation of any part of ourselves that society has tried -- and failed -- to subdue.
