The last minute of the composition/improvisation “Zo hoor ik het graag!“ (“That’s the spirit!“) is an ode to Conlon Nancarrow: a hard-hitting uncompromising boogie woogie in overdrive.
“Zo hoor ik het graag!“ (“That’s the spirit!“ / literally “That’s how I like to hear it!“) is an improvisation / composition which originated in the corona years 2020/21.
For years I have been playing total free piano improvisations in the tradition of Keith Jarrett and because performances largely stopped in the corona era, I decided to record a free improvisation for three pianos, a sound idea that has been wandering in my mind for some time.
Thus it happened: at home I have a beautiful Seiler concert piano with clearly distinguishable timbres in the registers, and while improvising - solo and playing together with the recordings - I recorded material for three pianos (and six pianists).
