Alexei Stanchinsky - Songs without words

1.- Largo 2.- Andante cantabile: 2:54 3.- No tempo marking: 6:26 This collection of pieces were among the first he wrote, in 1903-4, alongside the song “I Had a Dream about the Evening-Glow“ to the words of Semyon Nadson. In comparison to his later works, which are the most prominent part of his whole oeuvre, one can clearly identify the romantic influence in this earlier works, especially in these, in contrast to the more modernist pieces he composed later in his rather short life. In some parts I took artistic liberty, given the fact that not all is very clearly notated, particularly in the third piece, which doesn´t have any expression marking at all, not even tempo is specified. Above all, I hope you enjoy this small collection of pieces, virtually unknown even for the composer.
