AGAWA CANYON | 3 Day Solo Wilderness Camping in Ontario | Hike to Eton & Packraft the Agawa River
A hiking and packrafting trip through Agawa Canyon along the Agawa River. A stunning wilderness section littered with beautiful waterfalls, challenging white water, and high cliffs towering the Agawa river that splits the gorge. It is considered inaccessible by standard means. No maintained roads lead to the upper and most advanced section of the canyon, they say there is only one way in, and one way out. The Agawa Canyon Tourist Train. But what would happen if the train stopped running, the section of railway sold, throughfare contracts cancelled, passenger trains not in service, the tracks left unmaintained and in disrepair, the canyon abandoned by all but the most adventurous.
Hiking 30 km with white water paddling gear on my back, I would travel upriver for the first 2 days, piece together a remote off trail route that leads to the start of the canyon in the town of Eton, I would then take another 2 days to paddle the white water Agawa river through the canyon back to the Towab Trail head.
